My family photo sessions are all about having fun! There may be a bit of posing to do here and there but I find the best shots happen when I just set things up a little bit and let the fun happen!

Include the WHOLE family.


Bring your four-legged family members along too, I love meeting them and making new friends.

There’s that word again. These sessions are about capturing children’s personalities, they will get to be themselves, no awkward posing, or standing still. I’ll be there to direct, but usually the kids lead the way and I follow!

My sessions take place around the southern edge of the Derbyshire Peak District so I know of dozens of pretty spots to use, from a walk in the woods to a climb up the rocks for a view over the Derwent Valley.
Also if you don’t have kids, or you have a bump, or your kids have four legs and fur, that’s all good too :)

How does it work, then?

Easy Peasy!
First job, get in touch to arrange booking your session. Let me know if you have anywhere in mind for us to meet up, or I’ll be happy to make suggestions.

Allow around an hour or so for your photo session. We won’t be shooting full-on all the time, we’ll spend time doing a bit of exploring and playing around too so everybody gets chance to relax a bit and enjoy the session.

After the session you’ll get a free, secure online gallery so you can download your digital photographs and buy exactly what you like, at your leisure, with no obligation and no high-pressure sales.

One simple price includes all of the following:

  • Consultation chat or emails to answer all your questions and advise about clothing and locations etc.

  • Your photo session including travel within 10 miles of my base near Ripley, Derbyshire.

  • Secure private online gallery allowing you to share, download your chosen photos, and order prints.

  • At least 40 fully edited finished photographs for you to choose from.

  • Your favourite five photographs as high-resolution digital images with unrestricted printing rights.

  • 20% discount voucher on prints with prices starting at less than £10.

  • Pick your date and book your session online here, or contact me on 07813 923257 or matt@fieldphotographic.com.
    You can choose to pay a £50 deposit and the balance the week before your session, or pay the full balance upon booking so you’re all settled up.

  • Outfit planning can really make the end result. Here are a few tips:

    Make sure to pick something you’re comfortable in!

    Smart casual always works well.

    Avoid bright bold patterns, characters and branding unless that’s the look you’re going for.

    Plan a coordinated look for everybody.

    Ladies:
    Short/medium heels give legs shape, flats don’t.
    Remember there may well be some sitting on the ground so longer skirts or dresses, or trousers work better.
    Consider longer sleeves or bring along a cardigan or jacket for some shots.

    Gents:
    Bring your nice shirt.


  • It’s up to you. If it’s a total washout we may have to rearrange. If it’s just a bit damp we can rearrange or just head somewhere more sheltered and still have some fun! If the weather doesn’t play nicely sessions are always rearranged at no extra cost. Grey skies are fine, and I’ve also had a laugh running for cover and sheltering from showers on sessions before now! I’m constantly checking the weather forecast for the coming days so I’ll be in touch if things look dodgy and we can decide.

  • Absolutely! We can include whoever you like in the photographs, usually more people means more posing and organising though, so the photographs will have a bit more of a staged look. We can also shoot some individual shots if different families come along together.

  • Depending on size, the most popular sizes cost from around £10 to around £60. I only offer prints but do have recommended framing shops if you’d like to get them framed. I can deliver directly to the framing shop if you wish.

  • No this is entirely up to you! I want the whole process to be as stress-free for you as possible. Your photo session includes your choice of five digital photographs and there is no requirement to buy anything else. If you choose to purchase prints you can do this at your leisure in your online gallery.
