How Do! I’m Matt, Derbyshire Wedding Photographer
I’m a wedding photographer based in Derby, working across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and sometimes a bit beyond. My approach to wedding photography is down-to-earth, shooting unobtrusive documentary-style with a good mix of more ‘official’ shots too. I’ve visited almost all wedding venues in the Derbyshire area in my 30+ years as a professional photographer! I’m a preferred supplier at Shottle Hall, Makeney Hall, Morley Hayes, Tissington Hall, Stretton Manor Barn, The Bentley Brook Inn, The West Mill, The River Mill, Breadsall Priory, Eastwood Hall. I’ve also recently made visits to Grangefields, The White Hart at Moorwood Moor, Dunston Hall, The Maynard at Grindeford, and The Folly at the Farmhouse.

We’ll roll with it and have an amazing day! I always suggest checking with your venue about plans for staying inside for photographs, although I know the inside of most Derbyshire wedding venues very well. I’ll have ideas (and lighting if needed) for indoor and outdoor shots for you, but the choice is yours on the day - we can get the brollies out and go adventuring or stay inside and still get great results!

Yes—I’m based in Ripley, but I photograph weddings all across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and beyond. If you're planning a wedding elsewhere in the UK (or even abroad), just drop me a message.
Travel over 90 minutes from my base would require overnight accommodation, and travel further would require two nights accommodation.

Absolutely. While most of my work is natural and documentary-style, I always make time for the more traditional group shots too. We’ll keep it relaxed and efficient, so you can get back to enjoying the day.

My Derbyshire wedding photography is as unintrusive as possible, but also making sure we get the must-have ‘official’ shots with all the important folks. I don’t take things too seriously, there will be Dad jokes, probably bad puns, I like to have a good time with everybody.

My diary is open up to two years in advance and the price you pay is the price you are quoted at the time of booking, so it’s worth getting in early, especially for the popular dates, but I accept bookings right up to within a few weeks of the wedding depending on my availability.

Yes engagement shoots are lovely optional extra and start at £150. We usually arrange these at a nice location in Derbyshire particularly around the south of the Peak District. You’ll get an idea of what it will be like on your wedding day when it’s photowalk time, as well as some ideas of the poses that you may prefer to others.
