What are the best wedding venues in Derbyshire?

What are the best Derbyshire wedding venues? Well, I’ve spent (very) many years visiting them all and working with them, and I can confirm we have some real corkers! No matter if you’re wanting rustic charm, country house grandeur, or chic industrial, there’s a Derbyshire wedding venue for you. Here is my top list with a few useful details and about each venue in alphabetical order…

Blackbrook House

Nestled in the hillside just outside the lovely market town of Belper, Blackbrook has a boutique feel to it with the option of seriously high-end dining and really hands-on management that excels in its venue decor.

Belper, DE56 2DB

Breadsall Priory

Dating back to the 13th century Breadsall certainly qualifies as one of the most historic wedding venues in Derbyshire. It's barely 10 minutes drive from the Derby city centre but you could be a world away as you meander down the long driveway to the hotel. Its modern amenities are everything you'd expect from the world-class Marriott brand, the gardens are second to none, AND there's a golf course if you're into that sort of thing :)

East Lodge

The quintessential English country house hotel. East Lodge has some more of my favourite backdrops for wedding photographs. The hotel is well suited to smaller, more intimate weddings but does also host larger weddings in a luxury marquee attached to the main building through the summer months, Another family-run hotel with exceptionally high standards, the service you receive is second to none.

The Folly at the Farmhouse, Mackworth

A lovely multi-purpose venue just a short ride from Derby city centre, the Folly & Farmhouse is an established venue that was completely refurbished a couple of years ago. This transformed the interior with rustic bare wood and brick details alongside modern, but classic colourful accents, and completely modernised the venue. The Folly is set aside from the Farmhouse which offers a restaurant, pizza oven (oh, the pizzas) and accommodation. I love the rustic features and hidden areas that make this venue unique.

Mackworth, Derby,

Haarlem Mill

Set in the countryside right next to the village of Wirksworth, Haarlem Mill is a lovely industrial-style venue, just small enough to be cosy and welcoming, but large enough to accommodate everybody comfortably. There's space to spread outside in summer and the place is super cosy in the winter months!
Wirksworth DE4 4BG

Horsley Lodge

Horsley Lodge has been one of my regular wedding venues for many years. There's a host of photo opportunities inside and out, and the team there are all really experienced at running your special day with perfect efficiency.
Horlsey, DE21 5BL

Makeney Hall

Makeney Hall is another wedding venue I've worked with for many years, it's a grand Victorian country mansion with landscaped gardens and a lovely covered outdoor wedding ceremony area set in a tranquil hidden garden. We've got 6 acres of grounds to play in, and views over the surrounding countryside too!
Makeney, DE56 0RS

Mapperley Farm

Mapperley Farm is a wedding venue with a lot to offer! They have two outdoor woodland wedding areas and an indoor converted barn if needed too. The venue is pretty much a blank canvas, with the owners Sam & Rosie guiding you through choices of marquee suppliers and caterers, leaving you to be as creative as you wish with your plans on their vast acreage of land.

Morley Hayes

Without a doubt one of the longest-running and most successful wedding venues in Derbyshire, and another one of my regular haunts for over 20 years. Morley Hayes offers no less than five options for your wedding ceremony including two outdoors (my fave is the woodland lodge) so there's something for everybody.

Peak Edge Hotel wedding photograph at dusk by Field Photographic

Peak Edge Hotel

I love a wedding at the Peak Edge Hotel! It's only 10 minutes or so out of Chesterfield but feels like it's in the middle of nowhere with just open moorland for miles. You have the best of both worlds with the quaint country inn and the new modern boutique hotel attached. I like to take a drive out to the moors with my couples to get some really cool looking shots, too :)

Shottle Hall wedding photograph by Field Photographic

Shottle Hall

I've been proud to be associated with Shottle Hall for over 15 years now and it's still one of my favourite and most popular venues. It's a venue with many different areas and styles featuring a huge marquee and outdoor ceremony area around the back as well as the main hall. There are so many areas for photographs we have to discuss in advance which to go for as we would never get around them all!

Stancliffe Hall wedding photograph by Field Photographic

Stancliffe Hall

A grand country house set in acres of gardens, Stancliffe is a luxurious wedding venue that is family owned and run giving you the highest quality personal service. The venue has wonderful landscaped gardens but you can also find some lovely tucked away areas of woodland full of rustic charm!

West Mill wedding photography by Field Photographic

The West Mill

A super characterful venue set over four floors just a few minutes outside Derby in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. If you want full-on industrial-funky-trendy then this is your place! The ceremony room features an original tiled floor and a beautiful rusted metal ceiling with patina galore. The style here is bang on trend and the service is great.

The White Hart, Moorwood Moor

The White Hart at Moorwood Moor has been transformed from the countryside pub it used to be into a full-on wedding venue and hotel, but it still retains the charming country-pub vibe in the old building, and they happen to serve an excellent menu too ;) From the ceremony in the airy orangery, you're led right out onto the patio for drinks overlooking the adjoining countryside and fields, all of which make for an excellent photowalk later on too.

Yeldersley Hall wedding photograph by Field Photographic

Yesldersley Hall

From the grand entrance through to the rustic courtyard, the expanse of landscaped gardens and the marquee attached to the building, Yeldersley Hall is a beautiful wedding venue that you can personalise as much as you wish. Great personal service from the owner and his top-notch, personally chosen caterers.
Near Ashbourne, DE6 1LS
