It was a rainy and dark November day for my first visit to the The West Mill in Derby last year. Usually I wouldn’t have been best pleased about this but as it happened I had quite a few things in my favour.
Most importantly having explored the place thoroughly a few weeks earlier, I knew we had three floors of amazing spacious light interiors to work with. I was also under instruction from Ellie & Paul that photography was to be very much candid and documentary in style, with little formality.
Ellie was very pregnant and looked radiant all day, so I just had to negotiate one shot in the dressing room to show off baby bump to his/her best :)
I just loved working with the unique industrial interiors at the West Mill, it’s an amazing conversion from what was an empty shell of a building just a few years ago, and is deservedly becoming very popular with couples looking for a venue that’s just a bit funky and different from the norm. I’m looking forward to getting back there and making use of the amazing exteriors sometime soon!
Here are some of my faves from the day.
